My views:
There are outcries for the video game addictions but no one looks into the root. He ran away for a video game - problem 1. He left his bike - which he did not seem to know how to fix - problem 2. He probably got lost while walking and figured he would climb a tree to get some bearings. He did not have the skills to be out on his own, that is a problem in itself.
May he be in a better place.
